GUESS WHAT…

You’ll never guess…

Rogue and I, Canyon, the stud of the pack, were given AN AWARD!!

We didn’t even know we had fans!

So, here’s the scoop.

Cadbury, of A Chocolate World, thought Rogue and I were some pretty adventurous doggies, so gave us THIS AWARD!

THANK YOU CADBURY!

So, Mommy says Rogue and I now have to post the rules, and then pick our five favourite blogs.

This is going to be SO HARD!

Eleven Months Old

Hi There!
It’s Banana! or for those who do not yet know my new nickname, it’s Roagie!

Today I am 11 months old!

Mommy says my first birthday is really soon.

I’m not sure what all the excitement is about…but Cessie says I’m going to get presents and special treats, so I’m thinking that means party time!

I can’t wait!

I look forward to any opportunity to go bananas!

Happy 11 Month Birthday to Ruby and all of my other siblings! Soon we will all get an excuse to go bananas!

Ten Months Old

Today I’m 10 months old!

I really do love coffee!!

To commemorate my 10 month birthday, Mommy has helped me to post ten pictures which illustrate why I’m the Rogue Puppy.

Mommy and Daddy should have known naming me rogue was going to be a bad idea…

What else did you expect me to do? I was tiny and scared…

Phoenix was such a patient friend…

There’s no way Mommy and Daddy are going to leave me behind!

Did you know that these things are useful for more than just reading?

We all need a little fun in our lives…

Nothing Mommy and Daddy ask me to do is too hard or scary for the Rogue Puppy!

See? I told you there isn’t anything Mommy and daddy ask me to do that scares me!

Oh…it’s tough being a Rogue Puppy.

Is this some kind of joke?

Mommy says she is sorry she doesn’t have too many newer pictures, but that she hopes to be better about keeping up with my antics from now on.

I’m not sure if many of my siblings read our blog, but I know Ruby does, so…

Happy 10 Month Birthday Ruby, and to the rest of my sisters and brothers!

You can join or kiss, the ruled by paws stud (he’s watching me, so I’ll let him think this is what I think) and the brat in the Kissing Booth…

If you can’t participate, but would still like to help out, please help me spread the word about this wonderful fundraising event!

Presents, Presents

Hey There,
It’s Cessna here. I asked Mommy if I could come on here to tell you all about the presents Santa Paws brought us. We were spoiled this year!

Since Rogue is the baby in the family, she got pretty spoiled, with lots of toys and treats. She got:
• A light pink Hugglehound corduroy rabbit
• A stuffed penguin that squeaks
• A plush Santa toy that holds plastic water bottles
• A short rope bone
• A Skinneeez raccoon
• A package of beef flavoured Snausages

Aspen doesn’t like to play as much as the rest of us, so she didn’t get as many toys, but she loves her presents! She got:
• A soft squeaky gingerbread woman wearing a pink skirt
• A long, soft, squeaky brown dog
• A big rawhide candy cane
• A package of beef flavoured Snausages

Canyon thinks all of the new toys are his, but he got some of his own presents as well. He got:
• a brown Hugglehound corduroy reindeer
• a Skinneeez fox
• a big squeaky toy that looks like a hard candy wrapped in a felt brown, orange and red wrapper (Mommy says he got this because he’s the Candyman)
• an orange canvas bone that squeaks
• a package of beef flavoured Snausages

And last but not least, here’s what Santa Paws brought me!
• A green rubber ball that has long, black nylon ribbons going through it and little green rubber balls on the ends of each ribbon (this is an awesome toy for shaking around and playing tug!)
• A soft, panda bear that has a rope going through it
• A package of beef flavoured Snausages

When Mommy and Daddy helped us take all our presents out of our stockings, we had a blast wrestling and chasing one another around the living room. Mommy says this year is the first year she can really say we looked like human children on Christmas morning!

Me and the rest of the ruled by paws gang hope you and your families were also spoiled by Santa Paws.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Lots of Kisses and Tail Wags,

Cessna

A Word From Canyon

Hey There Friends & Followers!
Mommy asked me, Canyon, the most handsomest stud of all, to send you all a quick message from the ruled by paws gang.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We hope your holidays are filled with never ending laughter and wagging tails!

The $10 Puppy

Hiya,
Roagie here. Mommy wanted me to share this picture for her. Her and Daddy thought it was pretty funny to have me pose under this $10 sale sign at our local Walmart.

I didn’t think it was that funny…

Do you guys think I’m only worth $10?

Tears Of Gold

Hi Everyone, it’s Aspen here. I’ve never been given the chance to take over the blog, but Mommy said I can let you all know about the e-mail we got from Grandma Doris last night.

It wasn’t a very nice message…

Grandma Doris told Mommy and I that Daddy (Kantung’s Nugget of Gold) and Uncle Nugget (Allen Parks Echo), passed away this winter…

I’m really sad about this.

I loved going to visit Grandma Doris in the summer and running with Daddy in the field behind their house.

Uncle Nuggy wasn’t as into running, he turned 15 this past year, but I still liked visiting with him.

I’m not sure I’ll like going to visit as much anymore, because now I’ll just have my pesky half-sister Moose stealing my Grandma.

Uncle Nugget was born in 1995 (Mommy couldn’t find his exact date of birth). He sired several litters, before retiring the year I was born (2003). He was a wonderful boy, full of happiness and personality. He passed away just after new Years from natural causes – he was 15.

We’re really going to miss you Uncle Nuggy!

Daddy, Max, was born on May 5th, 2001. From what Mommy could find, he sired over thirty different litters and has tons of daughters, sons and grandpuppies who are now breeding.

The last time we saw Daddy, was about two years ago, when I stayed with Grandma Doris for a week or two. Grandma Doris wrote Mommy to tell her about the adventures I was having with Daddy. We ran in the forest together on walks with Grandma Doris, and I liked running circles around him.

He had a cancerous tumor removed from his neck last fall, but the vet thought they had gotten it all. When Uncle Nuggy died, Grandma Doris says Daddy got really sad and stopped eating. They changed his food several times and after clearing up some tummy issues, they thought he was on his way back to health. Grandpa Larry’s Mommy passed away around the end of January and then Daddy also crossed the rainbow bridge a week later. They aren’t sure if the cancer returned or if he just died of a broken heart.

Mommy and Grandma Doris say I am a lot like Daddy, max. We both have a sunny disposition, but aren’t very smart. I just think we both know how to get away with things we don’t want to do…but, I didn’t tell you all that – shhh! Daddy’s favourite thing to do in the summer was to catch frogs in the creek behind Grandma Doris and Grandpa Larry’s house. Like me, Daddy Max never killed the frogs, but like to jump in the water to catch them and then let them go before they got too scared.

I’m really going to miss Daddy…

Rest in peace Uncle Nuggy and Daddy Max, we’re all going to miss you guys, but know you’re in a better place together…

Before I sign off, Mommy found this poem for me to share with you all…

My Forever Friend

I know that it must be different,
now that I am no longer here.
I realize how much I was loved
and how all of you did care.

I know it will be hard at first
when you look around for me.
Expecting to find me in my bed
or beside my favorite tree.

Someday you will begin to see,
although it’ll take some time,
the happy times you shared with me,
the memories are yours and mine.

I’ll remember you, my family,
and how much you meant to me.
So please don’t grieve and don’t be sad,
it was just my time to leave.

Another Fundraiser

Hi Everyone!
It’s Cessna and Phoenix here. Mom is a little busy so, we offered to take over and let you all know about a fundraising project our friends over at Dog’s Eye view are undertaking.

Jack is from Guide Dogs of America, so L^2 has decided to begin their fundraising project for their upcoming 6 month anniversary. If you’d like some more information about the project you can also visit this post. Both Phoenix and I are not from Guide Dogs of America, but think it is important to help out friends when possible. If you’d like to help L^2 and Jack with their project, please visit the links we’ve provided for instructions on how to donate.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, Phoenix thinks we should tell you all about the wonderful toys Mommy and Daddy bought us and all about the treats they made.

On Tuesday Daddy came home from work with a big box – I don’t remember there being toys at his work…guess they were hiding them on me! When Mommy opened the box, there were some really fun things: a Galileo Bone, a Nylabone Double Action Revolving Chew, a liver flavor Nylabone, a lime green Tough By Nature Good Cuz, a lot of squeaky Air Kong Tennis Balls,a yellow stuffed duck and white stuffed lamb that honk, an orange and black JW Arachnoid Ball and two new Kong Wobblers that Mommy says is for Aiden and Reece. Canyon really likes the JW Arachnoid Ball and Air Kong Tennis Balls, Aspen likes the yellow duck and Phoenix says he is a little too old to be playing with all that, but finds it fun to grab one and tease canyon – I actually like doing the same thing!!

Then this weekend we got even more surprises! Mommy and Daddy made us new cookies to share. They made some shrimp ones for me by grinding the leftover tails and shells into a paste to mix with some spelt flour and then made some banana/cinnamon ones for the goldens . Then for Phoenix, Daddy made some more dehydrated veggies – turnip, sweet potato and a really weird purple one.

Well that’s all for now, but Phoenix and I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that you will try and help our friends sponsor a puppy.

Lots of Labrador kisses and tail wags,

Cessna and Phoenix

Awesome Blog Award

Hi There. It’s Cessna here! Mommy said that I could take over the blog today because she’s busy trying to keep Canyon out of trouble – he seems to think it is necessary to chew the noses and ears off all our toys!!

So guess what? This morning Mommy was reading through the various blogs she follows and saw that our friends, L^ and Jack gave us this awesome blog award. Thanks guys, we think you are stellar too!!

The rules for accepting this award are:
• Link to the person who gave you the award.
• Share 7 things about yourself.
• Then pass the award on to 15 other blogs.

Well, let’s start with 7 things you might not know about me:
1. I was trained in Quebec. Even though Mommy got me from the Lions Foundation of Canada in Oakville, my trainer lived in Quebec and I spent about six months with him there.
2. I am not only Mommy’s 3rd dog guide, but I am also her smallest. Gryphon was an approximately 25 inch tall, slim, male who weighed 81lbs, Phoenix is a 23 inch tall, small male weighing 66lbs when he was working and I’m a mere 21.5 inches tall and weigh less than Phoenix (a woman never tells her true size you know…)
3. I am a very picky eater. I will turn up a meal or treat if I don’t think it’s worth the calories. Mommy once tried to see how long I would hold out for something better and gave in after 50 hours…she should have known that I always win!!
4. My nicknames are Beau (my mom’s name is Belle), Dobby (Daddy thinks I’m cute and loyal like the house elf), Cessnaroo (I love squirrels and will jump around like a kangaroo in harness when I see one), and Torpedo (our old neighbor used to call me that because I’d dive bomb her when she came over).

5. I take my name to heart. I make Mommy walk so fast, she sometimes loses her breath. I also swim faster than every dog I know, so they often don’t want to play with me .But, as a result of my speed, my tail gets swollen and I end up crying whenever I sit or lie down later…Mommy says it’s called Rudder Tail.

6. When I was six months old I caught a bunny and chipmunk before my foster mom could stop me. I didn’t mean to, but I guess I scared them and they both died before I could give them to her.

7. I don’t trust chocolate labs (Mommy says Jack is probably a nice boy though). I’ve had two chocolate service dogs attack me and made friends with a puppy who ended up attacking me when she got older. I don’t get aggressive towards them, but I refuse to interact and wouldn’t even trust Reece, who lived with us from the age of 8 weeks.

Now, here are 15 blogs we think are awesome:
1. At a Glacial Pace By Jess and her Leader Dog Glacier

2. The World As I See It, My Life As It Happens by Lynette and her guide dog DeeDee

3. Paws For Thought by Jen and her guide dog O.J

4. The CRPS Girl by Ashley, as she prepares to receive her new service dog from CARES

5. Pedigree Dogs Exposed a great blog that discusses the myths and problems of purebred dogs

6. Raise A Green Dog an informative blog on eco-friendly products, recipes, and other fun dog related stuff

7. Caring For Your Older Dog a great place to read senior dog product reviews, learn about available therapies and find other useful information

8. Rolling Around In My Head by Dave Hingsburger, “a prolific author and public speaker who has worked in support of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 30 years”

9. Doggy Zen Den a great blog on the holistic approach to caring for your dog

10. K9-Crazy a blog written by someone who has fostered puppies for both National Service Dogs and The Lions Foundation of Canada, but is now focusing on competing with their own dogs

11. Vomit Comet by Carin and her partner Steve, a place to discuss everything and anything

12. After Gadget by Sharon and her service dog in training, Barnum

13. By My Side by Katrin, as she waits for her future Guide Dog Foundation partner

14. From Puppy To Public Access by Linda, her service dog Laurel and service dog in training, hardy

15. Dawg Business: It’s Your Dog’s Health by Jana Rade, in an effort to bring dog health issues to the forefront

I’m sure we’ve chosen blogs that have already been awarded, but Mommy is still new to the whole following thing so if you have a blog out there and we haven’t come to check it out then please leave the address in our comments section.

And to all those people who read our blog, thank you!!
